Curate an Artist-Themed Gallery with AI

Foster art analysis by curating a themed exhibition with AI-generated artworks.

Teaching Context:
For Year 7 to Year 10 Art students learning about style, mood and composition.

Basic AI Prompt:
Suggest artworks for a gallery on “movement in art”.

Enhanced AI Prompt:
You are curating an art gallery around a theme (e.g. movement, emotion, colour). Ask AI to list five artworks from different artists or cultures that suit the theme. Include artist name, style, time period and a short explanation of each artwork’s relevance.

Spice it Up (Optional Extension):
Use an AI image generator to create a new work inspired by the theme.

Lesson Implementation:
Begin with a gallery walk or image study to introduce themes. Students choose a theme and use AI to curate a mini-exhibition. They create a digital gallery using Canva, Jamboard or Google Slides, including artwork descriptions and a curatorial statement.

Encourage critical reflection through artist comparisons. This lesson builds visual literacy and interpretive thinking.
